Returns & Exchanges
We want you to love what you got. If something isn’t right, here’s how to handle it.
Return window
You have 7 days from the day your order is delivered to start a return. After 7 days, we can’t accept returns.
What we accept back
To be eligible for a return, your piece needs to be:
- Unworn and in original condition
- Free of scratches, scuffs, or signs of wear
- In its original packaging with all tags attached
- Returned with any included pouches, boxes, or care cards
What we don't accept back
Some items are final sale and can’t be returned for any reason:
- Custom or made-to-order pieces
- Engraved or personalized items
- Sale items marked as “final sale” at checkout
If you try to return any of these, we’ll send them back to you and you’ll be charged for return shipping.
How to start a return
- Email info@1979atelier.com within 7 days of delivery
- Include your order number and which items you want to return
- Tell us why you’re returning (helps us improve)
- We’ll email back with return instructions and a return address within 1 to 2 business days
- Pack the item carefully in its original packaging
- Ship it back with tracking (we strongly recommend insurance for anything over $100)
Don’t ship returns without contacting us first. We can’t process returns that show up unannounced.
Return shipping costs
Domestic (US) returns: You pay return shipping. We don’t provide prepaid labels unless the item arrived damaged or wrong.
International returns: You pay return shipping and any customs fees. Mark the package as “RETURNED GOODS” on the customs form so it doesn’t get hit with duties on the way back.
If the item arrived damaged or we sent the wrong thing, we cover all return shipping. Just email us with photos.
Refunds
Once we get your return and check it out (usually 2 to 3 business days after we receive it), we’ll process your refund.
Refunds go back to your original payment method within 7 to 10 business days. Your bank or card company may take a few extra days to show the refund on your statement.
What we refund:
- The full price of the returned items
- Original shipping if your entire order is returned and the item arrived damaged or wrong
What we don’t refund:
- Original shipping costs (unless we made a mistake)
- Return shipping costs
- Customs fees, duties, or taxes paid on the original order
Exchanges
We don’t do direct exchanges right now. If you want a different size, color, or piece, return the original for a refund and place a new order. This makes sure you get the new piece faster.
Damaged or defective items
If your piece arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, email info@1979atelier.com within 48 hours of delivery with:
- Your order number
- Photos of the damage or defect
- A short description of the issue
We’ll send a prepaid return label and either replace the piece or refund you in full, your call.
Warranty repairs
Our 7-day warranty covers manufacturing defects (loose stones from poor setting, broken clasps from bad construction, that kind of thing). It doesn’t cover:
- Wear and tear
- Damage from drops, snags, or rough handling
- Loss of stones from impact
- Tarnishing on plated pieces from contact with water, lotions, or perfume
To start a warranty claim, email info@1979atelier.com with your order number and photos of the issue. We’ll repair or replace the piece, our choice.
For repairs after 7 days, contact us for a quote.
Gift returns
If someone bought a piece for you and you want to return it, email info@1979atelier.com with the order number (it’s on the gift receipt or packing slip). We’ll issue store credit for the value of the piece. The original buyer won’t be notified.
